Loading platform

Every day, forklifts safely load and unload thousands of trailers and railcars. However, the edge of the loading platform is a small cliff. Falling from the loading platform can cause serious personal injury or even death. Compliance with applicable loading and unloading procedures and rules of your own company will help ensure safety.

Check the following:

1. Check that the trailer is centered, level and properly positioned on the loading and unloading platform.

2. Make sure the trailer is locked or secured with a wedge to prevent the trailer from moving or tow the trailer off the loading platform when loading or unloading. If the loading platform has a locking device, make sure it is engaged and the green light is on. If there is no loading and unloading platform locking device, make sure the trailer wheel is secured with a wedge.

3. Check the loading platform leveler or loading and unloading plate. Make sure it crosses safely and smoothly into the trailer and does not move out of its position. Make sure it can withstand the load and the weight of the forklift.

Always follow your company's safe loading and unloading procedures and do not take shortcuts. This will help ensure your safety. If you have any questions, please contact your supervisor.

Slopes and slopes

The appropriate procedure to follow when driving an electric industrial forklift on a slope or ramp depends on the type of equipment being operated.

The operator must also understand that the truck can run on a slope or ramp. Do not run on slopes that exceed the design of the truck. The maximum design slope of the forklift truck is shown on the load capacity tag.
